This capability means that the device is the server side of a MIDI loopback pipe. Server side devices require special handling and normal applications (MIDI recorders and players) should not show such devices on their device selection dialogs.
MIDI device capabilities like MIDI_CAP_SERVER can be checked using the SNDCTL_MIDIINFO ioctl call.
