This capability was used to mark MIDI devices that supported MPU-401 "intelligent" mode. This mode is no longer supported and there are no devices that support it.
MIDI device capabilities like MIDI_CAP_MPU401 can be checked using the SNDCTL_MIDIINFO ioctl call.
