AFMT_A_LAW sample format

A-Law encoded logarithmic sample format (obsolete)

Description

The A-Law format is not used in computer sound applications and it will not be supported by any of the OSS drivers. There is no reason to use this format in applications. AFMT_MU_LAW is practically identical format that is more commonly used.

Some telephony applications may need this format. The best approach for handling it is converting to/form 16 bits in the application.
